Self-Portraits

Students in Studio in Art are finishing up self-portraits. Students learned about facial proportions and value. The first part of the self-portrait was drawing a realistic portrait of themselves. Then students thought about what makes them who they are. Students combined their personality traits with things they like to help describe who they are for the background of the portraits. Students also learned about some basic watercolor techniques.

Coil Pots

Pumpkins!!!

Students are painting pumpkins for the Pug Parade. Students in my Advanced Drawing, Drawing & Painting, and Independent Portfolio in Art class each painted a pumpkin with the theme of their choice. The pumpkins will be on display at Dynamite Hill Sunday October 14th at the Pug Parade. Please stop by to see them. You can also see Mrs. Kearney’s elementary students’ pumpkins on display. I would like to give a thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for taking the time to organize the pumpkin painting for the students at North Warren. Also I would like to thank everyone who donated the pumpkins.

Chairs That Tell a Story

North Warren art students participated last year in a contest through the University at Albany. Students were given a title of a book and had to tell the story of that book through a painting on a chair. Students at North Warren had the book “Gulliver’s Travels”. Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school students and staff! It is going to be another fabulous year with plenty of creative art to come!

Art show

The art show was a success! This is the Chihuley tower that Mrs. Brown’s 4th and 5th grade made!

K-12 Art Show

Tuesday May 15th there will be a K-12 Art Show in the school gym. The show will be open to view during voting. A reception will take place from 4:30-6:45.

Plaster Carving

Students in Sculpture class are in the works of carving plaster. Students began with a rectangular shape and had to use subtractive carving for their design.
