O’Keeffe Flowers

My students have finished their Georgia O’Keeffe inspired flowers. They were drawn using oil pastels. Students looked at fresh flowers as a reference for their drawing. I have photos of Advanced Drawing and Drawing/Painting as well as Studio in Art. The advanced class drawings are larger in size 19″x25″ while the Studio in Art drawings are 9″x12″.

O’Keeffe at the Hyde Museum

Hyde Okeeffe showIn early September students in Studio in Art, Drawing & Painting, Advanced Drawing, and a several elementary students  visited the Hyde Museum to view the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit. Students spent time in the Butterfly Garden, drawing flowers from observation in the style of O’Keeffe. Students then viewed O’Keeffe’s artwork in the gallery. Students were also able to see several photographs by Alfred Stiegliz.

Reflecting on the museum visit, students interpreted a flower inspired by the style of O’Keeffe. Students enlarged a flower using oil pastels.
